Gauri and Mike

Gauri and Mike met each other at an internship at Rockwell Collins in May 2017. From starting off as coding buddies to becoming lifelong friends, Gauri and Mike had a solid foundation. In 2019, Gauri moved halfway across the world, so these two would spend their evenings talking on the phone. That is when they realized that they miss each other and had feelings for each other; this ultimately led to the start of their long-distance romance. Now, fast-forward 3 years, Gauri and Mike finally live in the same city and are married!

Gauri and Mike enjoyed planning every single detail of the wedding, from the décor to the flowers, from the matching outfits to the jewellery and everything in between. In fact, Mike really loved shopping for traditional Indian outfits and looking at heritage jewellery because this was unlike anything he had ever seen before. Now, which bride is lucky enough to say that her husband was just as excited about shopping for clothes and jewellery as she was? From choosing the outfits to deciding the décor, Gauri and Mike did it all. For them, watching their vision board turn into reality was like a dream come true. So, Gauri and Mike started off the wedding festivities at home with some traditional rituals such as the chappra puja and devara samaradhane, which was followed by a haldi and mehendi for their close friends. For her haldi, Gauri wore a beautiful saree from Kalki Fashion while Mike complemented her in a kurta pajama from Manyavar.

After a day’s gap, which is absolutely essential between wedding functions in our opinion, Gauri and Mike had a welcome ceremony which included vara pooja, gowri pooja, and bale shastra. Later that day, they had another mehendi function which was for their extended friends and family followed by a reception. With gorgeous blue pastels adorning the venue and a whole lot of starry embellishments, the place looked stunning. “This is exactly what we had in mind, and it turned out better than expected”, said Gauri. Gauri chose to wear a stunning off-beat lehenga from Seema Gujral and Mike looked ever-so-handsome in a suit from Indochino.

Then came the big day, the wedding day. Gauri and Mike had a traditional South Indian wedding, the Muhurtham ceremony. For the big day, Mike wore some traditional attire from Ramraj panche and Gauri wore a stunning magenta and gold saare from Prakash Silks and Sarees. While the couple certainly looked nothing short of perfect, we have to say that their décor choice was on point. The entire venue was filled with greenery and decorated with magenta, orange and white flowers. It was so unique yet so beautiful, and every guest commented on how much they loved the décor. It was evident how much thought had gone into the planning process. From the outfits, to the jewellery to the décor and the food, everything was so well thought out and very detail oriented.

For Gauri, one of her favourite memories from the wedding day was when she and Mike finally got to sit down together and have their first meal as a married couple. After all the hustle and bustle, this was a much-needed moment of peace and quiet. Gauri recalls, “Mike and I were able to sit down, relax, have a chat and enjoy each other's company over some delicious food. It was the perfect break, and a break that was much needed.” Another memory that Gauri will always cherish is when she and Mike were able to recreate a photo from Gauri’s parents' wedding ceremony. She felt it was such a gorgeous tribute to their love story and a great way to honour their memory on this special day.

Of course, once we sent Gauri and Mike the photographs from their wedding day, the couple was very happy, to say the least. She said, “I initially chose Lightbucket Productions after being blown away by your portfolio on social media. The way you create candid shots, the creative colour grading and the attention to detail really stood out to me. And during the process of working with your team, Mike and I were so happy. We could communicate easily and the best part is that your team made us feel heard and involved in the creative process. When we saw the final results, we were thrilled! I would recommend Lightbucket Productions to any couple who is looking for a wedding photographer and videographer because your work is just amazing.”
