An ode to the concept of soul mates: The love story of Aditi and Div

The love story of Aditi and Div is an ode to the concept of soul mates. Aditi and Div first met each other when they were both eighteen years old through a mutual friend. While this love story did not start with love at first sight, Aditi and Div happened to meet each other again eight years later, at that very mutual friend’s wedding. That day, these two hit it off like a house on fire; their fun and flirty relationship started that night, five years ago, and blossomed through several years of long distance.

As Aditi said, “Meeting Div that day was like magic. The chemistry we had felt like the kind of chemistry you read about in books. I knew I had found the one.” Across two continents, three different countries and six cities, Aditi and Div’s love continued to grow; as true love does. From day one, Aditi and Div knew that their connection was special. After a year of dating, when Aditi moved to Canada it was understood that Div would move to the USA within a few months to pursue his MBA. Alas, Covid hit and those plans changed. “Div and I did not see each other for eleven months, we were able to build a strong foundation based on mutual respect, communication and friendship”, said Aditi.

Eventually after completing his MBA in the US, Div visited Toronto and he took Aditi to her favourite spot in town, a quiet secluded beach called Pebble Beach. Div proposed with a very sweet letter as well as a ring which had the words ‘you are my sunshine’ inscribed in Hebrew. “My nickname for Aditi is Sunshine, so I knew she would cherish the inscribed ring. I wanted the proposal to be sweet, simple, private yet memorable. We actually took no photographs that day, but the memory lives in our hearts.”

Now, it was time to plan the wedding of their dreams. Aditi managed most of the wedding planning and Div was happy to participate when required. Aditi selected every vendor with thought and research, ensuring that each vendor fits the vibe for their Hindu wedding and Christian wedding. And, she did all this over the phone, sitting in Canada! Kudos, Aditi. She said, “Some of the vendors would jokingly say that we do not have much to do apart from the execution, since you have done most of the work for us.”

The wedding functions started with a cozy mehendi function. This was attended by Aditi’s friends and family, and it really kickstarted the wedding celebrations. She opted for quirky colourful décor and wore a gorgeous offbeat outfit that photographed beautifully. Div kept it chic and casual in a cream kurta pyjama.

The next day was the grand reception, with the scrumptious Telugu cuisine being the highlight of the function. With beautiful gold and maroon décor, Aditi and her décor team perfectly set the tone for the night.  This evening was a way for the two families to get to know each other better and just be merry.

The next morning, it was time for Aditi and Div to tie the knot. First was the traditional Telegu ceremony set on the backdrop of marigolds, brass lamps, uralis and happy faces. Aditi looked spellbinding in her Kancheepuram silk sari and ornate temple jewellery while Div complemented her in traditional silk attire. Aditi and Div happily participated in every ritual which was then translated to them in English so they could understand the significance and importance.

Upon returning from a relating trip to Bhutan, Aditi and Div had a beautiful Christian wedding. The bride stunned in an ivory princess-style gown with a full Mikado Silk skirt and an embellished bead-work bodice that she paired with intricate diamond jewellery. Aditi even planned a carefully curated surprise; she sang ‘When You Say Nothing At All’ as she walked down the aisle toward Div. She had been planning this surprise for three years, and seeing Div holding back tears just made the moment perfect.

Surrounded by dream décor in shades of white and green, Aditi and Div exchanged their vows to continue to love, cherish and respect each other, for the rest of time. This intimate ceremony was followed by an evening of whiskey and wine, plus a whole lot of yummy Kerela food. “Our closest friends and family from all over the world were there to celebrate us; as we danced the night away,” recalls Aditi.

“Div was initially apprehensive about posing for photographs at the functions, given that he dislikes taking pictures in general. So I knew that I wanted to find a wedding photography company that excels at candids. After speaking to various companies, we both decided that Lightbucket Productions would be the right fit for us based on the quality of their candid work. We loved the outcome of our wedding photos and it was such a pleasure working with Lightbucket Productions at our wedding.” were the bride’s parting words to us, and we couldn’t be happier.
